Overview
Based in Sydney, this role reports to the Operations Director and leads comprehensive demand and supply planning activities for Oceania. The manager translates various demand signals, retailer commitments, launch strategies, and supply limitations into a fully integrated operational plan to support service excellence, revenue targets, and effective working capital management across a multi-brand fragrance and beauty portfolio.
Key Functions
- Drive end-to-end Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP) processes, including managing the annual calendar and monthly cycles with defined timelines, responsibilities, and decision milestones.
- Champion demand consensus efforts by collaborating with Commercial and Marketing teams, incorporating promotional strategies, market insights, and retailer behaviors into SKU-level forecasts.
- Maintain high forecast accuracy and data quality, monitor variances against budgets, and ensure alignment with Finance.
- Lead local S&OP meetings, making sure risks, decisions, and actions are clearly identified and pursued.
- Continuously enhance forecasting accuracy, reduce bias, and enforce planning discipline.
Launch and Promotional Planning
- Manage launch and promotional volume planning leveraging historical data, market context, retailer commitments, and comparable launches.
- Conduct ongoing forecast adjustments during launches and promotions based on sell-in, sell-out, and retailer feedback.
- Analyze cannibalization effects and coordinate forecast modifications with relevant stakeholders.
- Drive post-launch and promotional reviews to gather insights and guide future planning cycles.
- Oversee the management of promotional stock residue risks in cooperation with Sales, Marketing, Supply, and Finance teams.
Supply Planning and Inventory Management
- Lead supply planning from global availability through to warehouse receipt and customer fulfillment.
- Provide visibility into supply chain metrics including stock in transit, DRP cycles, purchase orders, inventory forecasts, and availability risks.
- Prioritize supply constraints, implement mitigation strategies, and communicate potential out-of-stock risks and recoveries.
- Coordinate with Global Supply Planning to manage replenishments, production delays, and shortages.
- Govern inventory health, drive initiatives to minimize overstock, obsolescence, and capital exposure.
- Assess air freight decisions balancing service, cost, priority, and sustainability.
- Ensure readiness for launch and promotional supply including stock, testers, samples, and POS materials.
- Reinforce continuous improvements in supply planning processes and tools.
Cross-Functional and Stakeholder Collaboration
- Facilitate alignment with Commercial, Marketing, Finance, Logistics, Customer Service, and Global Planning to maintain an integrated demand and supply plan.
- Communicate local market intelligence, retailer strategies, and financial priorities to support decision-making.
- Represent the Oceania region's planning interests in global forums and share best practices.
Retailer Supply Chain Partnership
- Build strong relationships with retailer supply chain and buying teams to improve joint planning and supply chain performance.
- Lead collaborative sell-out-driven forecasting ahead of peak seasons, launches, and major promotions.
- Gain understanding of retailer inventory strategies and operational constraints to enhance forecast quality and availability.
- Evaluate joint performance on service levels, forecast accuracy, and supply execution.
Planning Analytics and Digital Tools
- Utilize data analytics, automation, and visualization tools like Power BI to transform planning data into actionable insights.
- Leverage AI technologies such as Microsoft Copilot to enhance planning efficiency, scenario evaluation, and automation.
- Maintain integrity and accuracy of master data in ERP and planning systems including SAP and SAP IBP.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the local Demand and Supply Planning team, setting clear roles and managing workload effectively.
- Establish team routines covering all aspects of planning and governance.
- Promote capability building through coaching and adoption of best practices.
- Monitor key team performance metrics including forecast accuracy, service levels, and inventory health.
- Foster a proactive, analytical, and solution-driven culture committed to continuous improvement.
- Support onboarding, succession planning, and training within the Operations team.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years' experience in demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, or S&OP in FMCG, beauty, retail, or consumer goods sectors.
- Preferred experience in managing or coaching planning teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or related fields; professional certifications such as APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP) are advantageous.
- Fluency in English.

- Business acumen in revenue management and budgeting.
- Digital mindset with an ability to utilize AI tools for enhanced productivity.
