Day Service Support Worker (5 Days a Week)

Position Overview

L’Arche Cork is seeking a dedicated Day Service Support Worker on a permanent basis for 35 hours weekly across five weekdays. This role supports adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) by delivering individualised care and facilitating activities tailored to their preferences, needs, and capabilities, in adherence with New Directions person-centred practice standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to the diverse needs of service users, including personal care requirements, while collaborating within the day service team.
• Establish trusting, person-centred relationships with individuals supported.
• Encourage and assist adults with ID to engage in meaningful activities both within L’Arche and in the wider community, promoting independence and mindful risk-taking.
• Maintain consistent communication with team members to ensure effective information sharing, safeguarding, planning, and risk management.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum QQI Level 5 or equivalent qualification in social care.
• At least two years of relevant experience in care or disability services.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, focusing on needs-led, solution-oriented care with contingency planning capabilities.
• Competency in managing challenging behaviours.
• Strong commitment to best practices, legislative requirements, safeguarding policies, confidentiality, and accountability.
• Familiarity with New Directions Standards for Adults with Disabilities and National Framework for Person-Centred Planning.
• Holders of a full clean driving licence eligible for local driving in Ireland, as driving is essential.
• Must be resident in Cork, Ireland, and subject to ongoing Garda vetting.

Salary and Additional Information

The salary aligns with the HSE Health Care Assistant scale ranging from 29,403 to 44,190 Euros annually (dependent on experience), paid pro rata.
