Data Science Engineer

Role overview

Based at the Singapore General Office, this position focuses on building advanced data science solutions that improve business processes and help transform existing ways of working.

What you will do

• Develop and tailor algorithms for different business problems and data structures.
• Apply operations research methods, including optimization and simulation, along with machine learning approaches such as tree-based models, deep learning, and reinforcement learning to build scalable data science systems.
• Use generative AI and agentic AI methods to design more adaptive and intelligent models.
• Partner with Data and AI Engineering teams to take solutions into production, including exploratory analysis, feature engineering, and model development in cloud environments using very large datasets.
• Coach and mentor colleagues while building recognized expertise in one or more data science methods, and measure the business impact of your work.

Team and working style

You will be part of a data science team reporting to the Data Science Director. In this role, you will work with subject matter experts across business units to define problems, create solution approaches, innovate new capabilities, and translate ideas into robust, scalable, and dependable solutions with engineering partners.

Required qualifications

• A bachelor's, master's, or postgraduate qualification in a quantitative discipline such as operations research, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, physics, or analytics.
• Two to five years of relevant experience in data science.
• Strong programming ability in Python and familiarity with libraries such as OpenCV, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras, and Pandas.
• Experience building and testing code in cloud-based environments.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence action.

Preferred background

• Hands-on exposure to machine learning, optimization, simulation, and generative or agentic AI in practical business use cases.
• A strong habit of continuous learning and a willingness to share knowledge with others.
• Experience working with large datasets and cloud platforms such as GCP or Azure.
• Familiarity with DevOps workflows, including Git and CI/CD practices.
