Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the data platforms that support both research initiatives and live trading operations. Responsibilities and scope of work will be adapted based on your experience and strengths. You will collaborate closely with engineers, infrastructure experts, and researchers to analyze and manage extensive datasets and data systems within a production trading environment. Your contributions will directly influence the pace of research and trading outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze diverse datasets to understand their structure, quality, and implicit assumptions.
• Convert raw data into standardized, reliable formats ensuring clear semantics and reproducible transformations.
• Collaborate with researchers to outline data requirements and translate those into well-organized, meaningful datasets.
• Design and sustain scalable ETL pipelines characterized by explicit directed acyclic graph workflows with clear dependencies and replicable executions.
• Administer and optimize data storage solutions including analytical and transactional databases.
• Monitor and enhance production data systems and pipelines focusing on observability, reliability, and performance efficiency.

Candidate Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong analytical skills to identify inconsistencies, potential issues, and edge cases within data.
• Comprehensive knowledge of data engineering principles including ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing.
• Hands-on experience building or maintaining data systems in production environments.
• Good understanding of distributed systems and trade-offs related to data storage and processing.
• A proactive attitude and sense of ownership when dealing with sophisticated system challenges.
