Data Engineer

Role Overview

The Data Engineer position at Association pour le Bon Usage des Médicaments au Burkina Faso (ABUMed-BF) is a part-time role located in Sydney, NSW, offering flexibility with some remote work options. The primary responsibility is to develop, build, and maintain data pipelines that support the organization's analytics and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines.
• Implement scalable data models for efficient data structuring.
• Manage and enhance data warehousing solutions to ensure efficient large dataset storage and retrieval.
• Collaborate with various teams to gather and understand data needs.
• Ensure data quality and integrity across pipelines and storage.
• Prepare datasets suitable for analytics and data-driven decision-making.
• Document data processing workflows.
• Monitor system performance and contribute to continuous data infrastructure improvement.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in data engineering, particularly in building and maintaining reliable data pipelines.
• Strong capabilities in data modeling for the creation of scalable data architectures.
• Experience in ETL processes integrating data from diverse sources.
• Familiar with data warehousing management and optimization.
• Competent in data analytics for insight preparation and reporting.
• Proficient with SQL and at least one programming language used in data engineering such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and version control systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with an eye for detail, capable of working independently and in team-oriented hybrid settings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience handling healthcare or public health data is advantageous.
