Role Overview

The Cyber Defense Analyst will be a key part of UltraViolet Cyber’s services team supporting a major client. This role involves thorough analysis, investigation, containment, and response to cybersecurity alerts. Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities will be essential to reduce impact from cyber threats, safeguard sensitive information, and maintain business operations.

Work Schedule and Location

• On-site presence required approximately 50% of the time
• Work schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts per week
• Shift options include Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday
• Working hours are from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Mountain Time

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations to detect indicators of compromise within systems
• Collaborate with Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) members on containment and mitigation efforts
• Maintain detailed documentation of all investigative steps and case dispositions
• Engage in rotational responsibilities including incident response, cyber threat hunting, and detection engineering
• Participate in case reviews and suggest improvements for investigative processes
• Stay updated on emerging cyber threats and attack methods to enhance expertise
• Work as a member of a global 24/7 cyber defense team, requiring occasional weekend work
• Assist in preparing and updating procedures and documentation related to investigations

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience in conducting cybersecurity investigations or similar roles
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, especially under pressure
• Familiarity with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools and other security investigation tools
• Basic understanding of security and privacy principles
• Excellent organizational skills for multitasking in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work collaboratively in team settings and build professional relationships
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities
• Must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen or permanent resident as per government criteria
