About the Role
As a Customer Delivery Driver for Tesco, you will be the primary representative of the company interacting directly with customers at their residences. This position involves more than just driving; it requires providing excellent customer service with a friendly demeanor. The work is physically engaging, varied, and involves working independently throughout the shift with support available from the management team when needed.
Working Schedule
- Monday: 18:00 to 22:00
- Tuesday: 18:00 to 22:00
- Friday: 19:00 to 23:00
- Saturday: 19:00 to 23:00
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the van, trays, and working areas to ensure all deliveries arrive in pristine condition.
- Safely load the delivery van and perform necessary checks to confirm the vehicle is roadworthy and reliable for daily tasks.
- Communicate with customers regarding any order changes, substitutions, or near-expiry products in a courteous and reassuring manner, including processing refunds to ensure smooth service.
- Handle products with utmost care, treating every delivery as personally important to uphold quality and customer trust.
- Deliver orders within allocated time slots while providing warm and genuine service at customers' doorsteps, ensuring customers feel valued.
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues to foster a cooperative and motivated team environment.
- A warm, friendly attitude when dealing with both customers and co-workers.
- Flexibility and responsiveness to changing customer requirements and work conditions while on the road and at the store.
- Possession of a valid UK/EU/EEA driving license (full or automatic), held for at least 12 months, with no more than 3 penalty points.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 in stores located within the M25 area; some locations may provide additional incentives.
- Guaranteed minimum working hours of 16 per week, with options available from 12 hours as well.
- Annual holiday entitlement beginning at 20 days plus one personal day, rising to 22 days after one year of service, including Bank Holidays.
