Job description
Overview
Join us at Lidl as a Customer Assistant where your main goal is to enhance the shopping experience for every customer, from the head office through to the shop floor. We seek individuals who are passionate about customers, energetic, and eager to learn daily. This role is based in our new Merchant's Quay store opening in Cork in October 2026, with initial training and work taking place in nearby Lidl locations.
Typical Day and Shift Patterns
- Morning Shift: Starting at 5 or 6 AM, prepare our award-winning products on the shop floor and bakery items for store opening.
- Middle Shift: Begin mid-morning or early afternoon to maintain store cleanliness, product presentation, assist customers, and operate tills efficiently to reduce queues.
- Late Shift: From afternoon start, provide excellent customer service at tills, restock products, and ready the store for the next day.
Note: All candidates must be 18 or older as selling alcohol is part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage customers with a friendly, helpful attitude.
- Apply stock loss prevention measures diligently.
- Uphold store and surrounding cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Adhere to product freshness and rotation guidelines.
- Manage waste disposal correctly.
- Assist in stock counting activities.

Compensation and Benefits
We provide a transparent and competitive pay structure ensuring equal pay across our roles. Weekly earnings start at approximately €460 based on a 30-hour workweek.
- Hourly pay starts at €15.40, rising to €17.90 after three years.
- Higher pay rates for unsocial hours (12am to 7am), overtime, Sundays, and bank holidays.

Salary Details
- Year 1: Basic €15.40/hr; €19.25/hr unsocial hours; €23.10/hr overtime/Sundays; €30.80/hr bank holidays.
- Year 2: Basic €16.20/hr; €20.25/hr unsocial hours; €24.30/hr overtime/Sundays; €32.40/hr bank holidays.
- Year 3: Basic €16.90/hr; €21.13/hr unsocial hours; €25.35/hr overtime/Sundays; €33.80/hr bank holidays.
- Year 4: Basic €17.90/hr; €22.38/hr unsocial hours; €26.85/hr overtime/Sundays; €35.80/hr bank holidays.
