Role overview
An established and expanding business in East Cork is hiring an experienced Credit Controller to join its finance team. This position suits someone who enjoys owning the credit control process in a busy, customer-oriented setting.
The successful person will be responsible for keeping customer accounts in good order, reducing overdue debt, preserving strong client relationships, and helping the accounts receivable operation run smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the sales ledger for a broad customer portfolio.
- Chase overdue balances through calls, emails, and formal written follow-up.
- Track customer accounts and ensure late payments are pursued promptly.
- Match and clear customer accounts while resolving queries without delay.
- Produce customer statements and aged debtor reports.
- Review customer credit standing and support the setting and monitoring of credit limits.
- Work with internal colleagues to sort out invoicing and payment issues.
- Keep customer data and supporting records accurate and up to date.
- Contribute to month-end reporting and wider finance tasks.
- Refer more complex cases when needed and help apply effective collection approaches.
- Follow all credit control procedures and policy requirements.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will already have worked in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or a finance administration role.
They should also bring strong communication and negotiation ability, a professional manner when dealing with customers, excellent organisation, careful attention to detail, and a proactive, solution-focused mindset. Confidence with Microsoft Excel and accounting software is also important, along with the ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines in a high-volume environment.
