Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to assist our conveyancing team by undertaking legal research, preparing documents, and providing case support. Positioned between administrative Conveyancing Executives and fully licensed Conveyancers, this role involves handling substantive legal tasks under supervision, such as title investigations, reviewing searches, and communicating with clients. This position offers valuable experience to develop the expertise and judgment required to advance toward qualification as a Conveyancer.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Conveyancers in investigating property titles, analyzing office copy entries, planning searches, and assessing environmental reports.
- Draft reports on title status, assemble contract packages, and prepare standard replies to enquiries under solicitor supervision.
- Examine search results and highlight potential issues to the overseeing Conveyancer.
- Prepare completion statements, transfer deeds, and mortgage paperwork with guidance.
- Manage client communications and provide regular updates on case progress.
- Perform anti-money laundering (AML) and source of funds checks as directed by supervising Conveyancers.
- Assist the Post Completion team with AP1 forms and Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) returns.
- Keep detailed and accurate case records using the Homey platform.
- Conduct legal research on non-standard title or property matters when needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession or pursuit of a Law degree, Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), Legal Practice Course (LPC), or equivalent legal qualification.
- Minimum of one year experience in conveyancing, property law, or similar legal support roles.
- Well-versed in the residential conveyancing process and key relevant legal documents.
- Excellent written English skills, capable of drafting precise and clear correspondence and legal texts.
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
- Motivated to learn, grow, and transition towards a qualification rather than remain in a fixed support role.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Membership in CILEx or active pursuit of qualification as a licensed conveyancer or solicitor.
- Experience working with conveyancing case management systems.
- Knowledge of HMLR portal, Land Registry search processes, or AP1 submissions.
- Exposure to leasehold or new build property transactions.
