Job Summary

The Contents Cleaning Technician plays a vital role in cleaning, restoring, inventorying, and packing customers' personal belongings impacted by various types of property damage. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, quality workmanship, and empathy since the items handled often have significant sentimental and monetary value. Technicians utilize specialized equipment and cleaning products under supervision to perform cleaning, deodorizing, manipulation, and storage tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

• Properly wrap and package contents to avoid damage during transit.
• Restore and clean contents damaged by fire, smoke, water, or mold, including hard and soft materials.
• Handle furniture, electronics, artwork, documents, household goods with care and safety.
• Adhere to company cleaning protocols and manufacturer's instructions for diverse materials.
• Operate specialized cleaning machinery, such as ultrasonic cleaners, ozone chambers, and deodorization devices.
• Document customer belongings through inventorying, photographing, barcode labeling using company software.
• Organize, wrap, label appropriately, and prepare contents for transport and climate-controlled storage.
• Support pack-outs and pack-backs at both residential and commercial sites as required.
• Inspect cleaned goods to confirm they fulfill company quality criteria prior to customer return.
• Maintain a tidy, safe, and organized warehouse and work environment.
• Load and unload company vehicles following safety standards.
• Notify supervisors about items that are damaged beyond restoration.
• Comply with all safety, OSHA, and personal protective equipment (PPE) regulations.
• Work efficiently with high attention to detail.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers, customers, insurance agents, and contractors when necessary.

Qualifications

• Preference for candidates with restoration, contents cleaning, or general cleaning experience; however, comprehensive training is provided.
• Capability to learn and correctly handle cleaning products including proper application and disposal.
• Eligible to drive company vehicles according to company vehicle policies.
• Demonstrates urgency, professionalism, a positive outlook, and strong work ethic.
• Ability to multitask and adapt within a fast-moving work setting.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving aptitudes.
• Detail-focused and dedicated to producing superior quality results.
• Can work autonomously with minimal oversight, as well as effectively collaborate within a team.
• Strong skills in customer service with professional and compassionate communication abilities.
• Basic proficiency with computers and smartphones for inventory tracking and communication.
• Preferred minimum education: High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are desirable.

Physical Demands

• Frequently lift, push, carry, or pull objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, climb stairs, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
• Comfortable working in confined or tight spaces when needed.
• Load and unload furniture, boxes, and household belongings from homes and company trucks safely.
• Capable of working in multiple environments, including warehouses and damaged properties with fire, water, smoke, or mold damage.
• Use personal protective equipment safely and consistently.
