The Commodity Analyst will join RaboResearch, Rabobank's global provider of industry insights, delivering independent analysis and clear communication on agricultural markets. This position is based primarily in Sydney, with possible consideration for Melbourne or Brisbane, and focuses on farm inputs such as fertilizers, agrochemicals, farmland values, farm machinery, and fibers like cotton and wool. These areas face significant structural shifts influenced by factors like technology adoption, geopolitics, climate risks, and global demand fluctuations.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce insightful and high-quality research on fertilizers, agrochemicals, farmland prices, and fibers for stakeholders and clients in Australia and New Zealand.
• Analyze market drivers including price volatility, cost structures, regulations, sustainability, technology uptake, and international trade.
• Collaborate with global RaboResearch teams to generate comprehensive and consistent market insights.
• Create engaging content such as reports, podcasts, presentations, and digital media with team support.
• Act as the subject matter expert in the sector, representing Rabobank at client meetings, conferences, and industry events across Australia and New Zealand.
• Develop a trusted public profile through media engagement including print, radio, TV, and online platforms.
• Partner with rural and corporate banking teams to support client strategy, identify business opportunities, and inform decision-making.
• Contribute research to credit policy, sector strategy, and risk evaluations including presentations to senior management.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of agricultural markets, data analysis skills, and commercial insight, with capability to collaborate across diverse functions and regions.
• Analytical mindset with keen interest in commodity market dynamics and agricultural economics.
• Experience or exposure to farm inputs and/or fibers markets, supported by professional or academic background.
• Proficient handling of large data sets, quantitative modeling, and interpretation of complex information.
• Ability to communicate intricate analyses clearly across varied audiences, from industry events to client presentations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; media engagement experience or willingness is preferred.
• Client-oriented approach with commercial acumen to understand and anticipate client needs and industry forces.
• Fluency in Excel and PowerPoint, comfortable adapting to emerging data and tech tools.
• Collaborative attitude with readiness to leverage global-local networks.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently for industry representation.
• Motivated continuous learner with openness to challenge norms constructively and deliver forward-thinking perspectives under uncertainty.
