Job Summary

Black & McDonald's Northern Ontario division is expanding its team, seeking dedicated Commercial Cleaners for various shifts. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and hygiene by performing routine and deep cleaning tasks. Candidates must be able to secure and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and waste disposal.
• Undertake deep cleaning activities such as washing interior and exterior windows, walls, and ceilings.
• Replace overhead light bulbs and clean fixtures.
• Sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and frequently touched surfaces.
• Monitor and refill dispensers as necessary.
• Operate cleaning equipment efficiently and safely.
• Maintain exterior areas through garbage collection in green spaces and parking lots.
• Execute specialized cleaning assignments as per job orders.
• Respond to emergency cleaning and maintenance requests promptly.
• Comply with strict cleaning protocols for secure environments.
• Report any safety hazards, damage, or vandalism to supervisors immediately.
• Complete hazard assessments, checklists, refusal logs, and related documentation.
• Adhere to company policies and security procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in commercial or industrial cleaning is preferred.
• Ability to obtain and retain Secret Security Clearance (mandatory).
• Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks involving lifting (up to 50lbs), bending, crouching, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, and working overhead or from ladders.
• Capability to perform repetitive manual tasks and use Personal Protective Equipment such as N90 masks, respirators, gloves, and disposable coveralls.
• Comfortable with medical-grade cleaning involving blood-borne pathogens and hazardous materials like lead.

Work Schedule

• Minimum 40 hours per week.
• Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
• Afternoon Shift: Monday to Friday, 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
• Occasional weekend work and overtime may be required.
