Key Responsibilities

Maintain regular communication with students and their families to understand their goals and expectations for the college admissions process
Deliver comprehensive counseling services, including 60-minute advising sessions conducted via Zoom
Monitor and manage application and academic deadlines effectively
Assign targeted tasks between sessions to optimize student achievements
Address inquiries from students and parents promptly
Oversee a diverse group of 5 to 10 students across different educational stages (grades 9-12, transfer applicants, graduate school candidates, and gap year students)
Provide customized guidance tailored to each student’s location, financial circumstances, academic pursuits, extracurricular involvement, and career goals
Conduct necessary research to enhance advising sessions and respond to questions
Guide students in developing a well-balanced college list reflecting their academic, professional, and personal interests
Offer up-to-date, strategic advice on admissions challenges
Support students during the writing phases of personal statements, supplemental essays, and resumes by identifying narratives and delivering constructive feedback
Review and provide feedback on students’ resumes, essays, and activity lists continuously
Engage in biweekly meetings with other Prepory coaches under mentorship of a Lead Coach
Participate as an additional evaluator during Committee Review processes
Maintain consistent communication with program leadership to report student progress

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

Alumnus of a top 50 university or top 20 liberal arts college or professional experience at such institutions
Previous experience as a college admissions officer is advantageous but not required
Comprehensive understanding of the U.S. college admissions landscape and dedication to staying informed on industry updates
Background in educational or academic support roles such as teaching, AmeriCorps, or research
Capability to juggle multiple student cases and priorities efficiently
Availability during after-school hours, weekends, and potentially international time zones
Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proficient time management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to supporting students for at least one academic year or through the full admissions cycle

Compensation

This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $22.75 to $32.75 per hour.
