Civil Inspector - SWRO Desalination Project

Job Overview

The Civil Inspector will oversee and inspect all civil engineering activities within the SWRO desalination project located in Fujairah, UAE. This role is crucial to ensuring that construction work aligns precisely with approved plans, specifications, quality benchmarks, and health & safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Regularly conduct thorough inspections of civil works, including foundations, concrete structures, pipelines, tanks, and marine components such as intake and outfall areas.
• Confirm that all construction activities strictly follow approved designs, project specifications, and quality standards.
• Monitor the quality of workmanship and materials used on site to guarantee compliance with project requirements.
• Verify accurate alignments, levels, dimensions, and structural soundness of constructed elements.
• Observe and document various tests including concrete pouring, compaction, and material quality assessments.
• Detect non-conformities and ensure prompt implementation of corrective measures.
• Collaborate closely with the QA/QC team, contractors, and site engineers to maintain coordination and compliance.
• Keep detailed inspection records, prepare reports, and maintain all pertinent documentation.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies during all site activities.
• Review method statements and inspection test plans before their execution on site.
• Assist with project handover processes and compile necessary close-out documentation.
• Provide problem-solving support relating to civil construction challenges on site.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience in civil inspection within construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with SWRO desalination or large-scale water treatment projects is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of concrete construction, structural assessments, and marine civil works.
• Familiarity with international standards such as ACI, ASTM, and BS.
• Prior work experience in the Middle East region, ideally within the UAE.
• Strong grasp of QA/QC procedures, inspection methodologies, and documentation practices.
• Certification in quality inspection or QA/QC is preferred.
• Meticulous attention to detail and solid reporting capabilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and efficiently interface with multidisciplinary teams.
