Category Sourcing Specialist

About the Role

Join Shorr Packaging Corp. as a Category Sourcing Specialist and embark on an employee ownership journey. In this key role, you will oversee the management and sourcing of assigned product categories, working with both existing and new suppliers. You will be responsible for vendor relationship management including improving margins, negotiating payment terms, and administering rebate programs while ensuring operational compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage supplier and product activities by handling sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation, issuing RFQs/RFPs, and finalizing agreements.
• Evaluate market trends to negotiate favorable pricing and discounts with vendors.
• Identify and source new products efficiently to meet the needs of Sales Representatives.
• Provide a high volume of accurate and time-sensitive quotations via Salesforce, while initiating and managing RFQs.
• Support the Salesforce system rollout by assisting pilot teams and training sales personnel on the platform and procedures.
• Collaborate with sales teams to promote designated vendors, foster profitable growth, and expand business opportunities.
• Act as a subject matter expert on products and market sectors, guiding and training internal teams.
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of the item database, supporting Procurement Operations with precise item details.
• Review inventory levels and partner with the Inventory Team on cost control, purchasing parameters, and reorder timing.
• Lead category-focused projects and conduct annual evaluations of suppliers covering rebates, terms, and overall performance.
• Ensure vendors comply with company standards, organize supplier meetings, and coordinate sample distribution.
• Participate in return process management and oversee private label programs within assigned categories.
• Travel up to 20% of the time may be required to support these responsibilities.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Have a minimum of three years in sourcing, purchasing, or inventory-related roles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $65,000 to $80,000. Shorr Packaging offers an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) to foster shared ownership among employees.
