Categorization Specialist

Role Overview

Truemed seeks experienced Categorization Specialists to assess product eligibility within specific Eligibility Category Groups (ECGs). This position involves consistent application of Truemed's Product Eligibility Framework to merchant catalogs and daily SKU reviews, ensuring meticulous adherence to HSA/FSA compliance and clinical guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Classify products under assigned ECGs by applying the two-track evaluation system: matching against known category standards and assigning products requiring further review to specialized clinical operations.
• Gain comprehensive understanding of IRS Publication 502 and Section 213(d) criteria to confirm product compliance.
• Screen products for disqualification factors including wellness, cosmetic, convenience, pharmaceutical, or biologic criteria.
• Process merchant catalogs thrice weekly, independently examining SKU lists for new and existing products, identifying errors, and coordinating escalations for ambiguous cases.
• Perform daily manual assessments of SKU uploads to maintain catalog accuracy and compliance with eligibility standards.

Candidate Profile

• Strong clinical or regulatory background such as health, nutrition, pharmacy, compliance, or direct experience with medical claims and benefits eligibility.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy during repetitive, high-volume SKU evaluations.
• Exhibit sound judgment when encountering ambiguous product classifications by recognizing when to approve, reject, or escalate.
• Highly independent, meeting turnaround goals for 2-business-day processing without direct supervision, while proactively communicating delays.
• Adept at performing structured, process-driven work diligently and consistently.

Additional Information

• Employment type: Independent contractor
• Contract subject to evaluation every three months
• Expected workload of 30 to 40 hours per week
• Reports to Clinical Operations Manager
