Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will spearhead new business growth efforts across Ireland by identifying and securing fresh customer engagements related to MMT's automation offerings. This position emphasizes active lead generation through strategic prospecting, networking, and relationship cultivation. Collaborating closely with technical and engineering teams, the manager will develop bespoke automation solutions that address client challenges.
Responsibilities
- Scout and develop new business within medical device, pharmaceutical, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing industries.
- Create and implement strategic plans for territory and account growth to meet expansion objectives.
- Establish and maintain rapport with potential customers, decision makers, and key industry influencers.
- Produce qualified sales prospects by leveraging networking, referrals, market insights, and proactive outreach.
- Conduct client meetings and onsite visits to assess automation needs and customer requirements.
- Work jointly with Program Technical Directors and engineers to design suitable solutions and proposals.
- Prepare and present engaging presentations, quotations, and commercial proposals.
- Oversee the entire sales process from lead identification to contract completion.
- Keep an up-to-date sales pipeline and accurate forecasts within CRM systems.
- Track industry trends, competitor movements, and new technological advancements.
- Represent MMT at industry forums, exhibitions, conferences, and networking events.
Requirements
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in business development, technical sales, or commercial roles.
- Established success in generating new business opportunities and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Background in automation, manufacturing, engineering services, industrial equipment, medical devices, or similar fields.
- Strong skills in prospecting and building long-lasting customer relationships.
- Excellent abilities in communication, presentations, and negotiating deals.
- Technical understanding of solutions to effectively present customer value propositions.
- Highly motivated, results-driven, with a keen commercial perspective.
- Possession of a full driving license and readiness to undertake regular travel.
