Role summary

This position reports to the Quality Supervisor / Quality Assurance Supervisor and is responsible for producing syrup in line with mixing instructions and sanitation standards. Key responsibilities

  • Follow all health and safety rules, GMP standards, and PPE requirements while working in warehouse and production areas.
  • Comply with food safety and quality standards, including Safe Quality Food requirements where applicable.
  • Prepare and stage concentrates and other inputs before batching, and confirm ingredient identity and expiry dates before opening containers or beginning the mix.
  • Complete and sign formula cards, lock out the syrup tank, and submit the card to the laboratory; make any changes only as instructed.
  • Fill out required paperwork such as work orders and action reports accurately and on time.
  • If a valve or tank has a mechanical issue, notify Maintenance or a Manager immediately and do not use the affected equipment until it is cleared.
  • Keep syrup flowing to both the can line and the bottle line.
  • Alert the Scheduler, Quality Assurance Manager, or Production Manager right away if there are supply or equipment concerns such as shortages or missing tanks.
  • Plan tank use ahead of time to get the best possible batch sizes.
  • Strictly follow all measuring and mixing instructions without deviation.
  • Coordinate with the Filler Operator, Quality Assurance, and Lead Hands to carry out flush-outs and product changeovers efficiently while protecting product quality.
  • Limit mixing to no more than four hours ahead of schedule to allow room for equipment issues or production changes.
  • Inform the Scheduler about any problems with sweetener deliveries.
  • Work with other departments to improve quality, raise efficiency, improve yields, and reduce nonconforming or damaged product.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary syrup room.
  • Pass along any supply, mechanical, or scheduling issues to the incoming syrup maker at shift handover.
  • Track concentrate and ingredient lot numbers carefully.

Requirements

  • Experience in a fast-paced packaged goods environment is preferred; beverage production experience is an advantage.
  • Training in WHMIS, HACCP, hygiene, or similar areas is preferred.
  • Forklift certification may be required.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs on a routine basis.
  • Comfort working in a high-pressure environment.
  • Good basic math ability, including measurements and formulas.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Good understanding of production schedules and laboratory testing.
  • Strong focus on quality improvement, efficiency, yield improvement, and reducing defective or out-of-spec product.
  • Close attention to detail.
