About the Role
SSP Canada manages multiple dining outlets at Victoria International Airport, including Tim Hortons, Spinnakers on the Fly, and Fresh Cup. This baker position is situated within a secure airport area requiring a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC). Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and provide government-issued documents for security clearance as mandated by Transport Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of baked goods like breads, pies, cakes, and cookies based on production and catering plans, assisting with daily production scheduling.
- Follow approved recipes and production protocols using the appropriate equipment to ensure consistent food preparation.
- Maintain detailed production records including waste, used and unused ingredients, and product shortages while alerting supervisors to supply needs.
- Ensure proper food presentation, quality, portion control, and temperature maintenance.
- Keep all kitchen tools, equipment, and work areas clean, sanitized, and organized.
- Work efficiently and calmly to handle peak production demands.
- Verify that all food items are served and displayed according to established standards.
- Manage daily kitchen and station setup including ordering and stocking necessary food items, paper goods, and condiments.
- Properly handle, store, and rotate all food products.
- Complete all tasks listed on daily preparation/baking sheets accurately.
Requirements
- At least six months of experience in a food service setting is required.
- High school diploma is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills to interact effectively with guests and take orders.
- Experience managing customer service challenges.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and work in confined spaces.
