Associate Data Scientist

About the role

Paramount is looking for an entry-level Associate Data Scientist to help build machine learning-driven analysis and products that influence business strategy, improve content decisions, guide marketing spend, and strengthen the user experience. The work will involve using large-scale datasets such as video and ad consumption, clickstream behavior, subscription history, and third-party data to develop user-level and session-level predictive and causal models.

This is an onsite position based in Burbank, CA or New York City, NY, with five days per week required in the office.

What you will do

• Turn complex business questions into well-defined analytical problems, measurable success metrics, and practical quantitative solutions.
• Start with fast, decision-ready analysis and improve it through feedback and observed outcomes.
• Build and maintain dependable ML and analytics pipelines, working with engineering teams to productionize and monitor models as needed.
• Help deliver clear and useful insights to internal stakeholders.
• Work with product teams to deploy data science solutions that support strategy and improve the customer experience.
• Support documentation, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to strengthen data science and product analytics practices.

Projects and focus areas

• Use first-, second-, and third-party data to create global models that forecast user behavior across the subscription journey, including sign-up and churn.
• Develop models that identify high-value actions and the drivers of habit formation.
• Build session-level prediction models to infer user intent at the beginning of a session.
• Create models that predict content viewership and reveal which content attributes resonate most with each subscriber.
• Design user segmentations for cohort-based targeting and more personalized experiences.
• Run diagnostic work, such as analyzing failed searches, to uncover product improvement opportunities.

What you need to bring

• A strong base in Python and SQL.
• Ability to convert business problems into data problems.
• Comfort writing production-ready code in a collaborative setting.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences, including the ability to explain findings through concise storytelling and visualizations.
• Good judgment in balancing technical depth with practical usability and business adoption.
• A genuine willingness to keep learning new tools and methods.
• 0-2 years of experience in data science and ML engineering.
• MS in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning approaches.
• Experience exploring, transforming, and modeling data, with some exposure to productionization and monitoring.
• Strong data fluency, including choosing appropriate inputs, engineering relevant features, and checking the reliability of results.
• Working knowledge of core statistical and machine learning methods and model validation basics.
• Ability to create clear technical documentation and stakeholder presentations.
• High attention to detail and strong commitment to data accuracy.
• Successful completion of a background check is required.
• Bonus consideration for experience with Google Cloud Platform tools such as BigQuery, ML Engine, and APIs.
• Bonus consideration for experience integrating AI solutions into existing business processes.

Additional information

Hiring salary range: USD 99,000 to 123,000.

This salary range applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other locations. Actual starting pay will depend on job-related factors including location, market conditions, experience, training, and education.
