Assistant Director - Integration & Analysis (Human Factor Engineering)

Role Overview

This critical position focuses on ensuring that soldiers are equipped with ergonomically optimized equipment, seamlessly integrated to boost their performance. You will provide specialized expertise in Human Factor Engineering (HFE) related to soldier system acquisition, design, development, as well as testing and evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and review designs of various soldier systems, offering expert recommendations for improvements.
• Plan and execute test and evaluation procedures to uncover human factors issues across soldier system technologies.
• Interpret test and evaluation data to enhance human-system integration, improving soldiers' operational performance and user experience.
• Develop and periodically update HFE assessment frameworks (matrices) specific to soldier systems.
• Collaborate with Defence Technology sectors and academic institutions to facilitate Human Performance Research projects and field trials.

Challenges

• Applying Human Factor Engineering principles within a military context, which is specialized and has few directly comparable references.
• Working closely with operational teams and stakeholders to accurately identify human factor challenges in soldier systems.

Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in Human Factor Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of six years’ experience applying HFE in product design and developing tests and evaluations to detect human factor issues.
• Established professional connections within the Human Factor Engineering community.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively across teams.
• Proven ability to collaborate across diverse functional groups and manage varied stakeholders.
• Willingness to participate in overseas seminars and conferences pertinent to the field.
• Competence in conducting evaluations in both controlled laboratory and operational field environments.
