About the Role
KBR provides vital logistics and engineering support services to U.S. Air Force operations through its AFCAP V Program across Southwest Asia. This opportunity involves assuming a combined role as an Alternate Site Manager and Mechanical Engineer at the ASAB ESS site. The position offers leadership in site operations and comprehensive mechanical engineering support to maintain and improve infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Site Manager in running Engineering Support Services at ASAB and nearby sites.
- Take over site management duties in the Site Manager’s absence, maintaining continuous leadership and operational oversight.
- Coordinate effectively among KBR staff, government officials, subcontractors, and mission partners as a primary contact point.
- Deliver mechanical engineering expertise on facilities, utilities, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other infrastructure components.
- Assess existing mechanical systems and advise on repairs, replacements, or enhancements.
- Conduct onsite surveys, inspections, facility assessments, and technical evaluations of mechanical systems.
- Review and interpret engineering documents including drawings, calculations, scopes of work, and RFIs.
- Contribute to the planning, design, execution, and closeout phases of engineering and construction projects.
- Prepare technical documentation such as statements of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to meet mechanical requirements.
- Ensure compliance of projects and operations with Air Force standards, UFC guidelines, OSHA, and other relevant codes.
- Monitor contract performance in line with the Performance Work Statement and Task Order Management Plan.
- Manage resources including staffing, training, equipment, and schedules to fulfill mission objectives.
- Guarantee workforce is trained, qualified, and competent.
- Oversee staff performance, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate operational and technical risks.
- Provide technical support during emergencies like equipment failures or utility outages.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and metrics relevant to ongoing projects and site operations.
- Participate in government meetings, project reviews, inspections, and construction coordination.
- Maintain clear communication with customers regarding project progress and technical issues.
- Promote and enforce a safety-conscious work environment compliant with KBR and applicable regulatory standards.
- Document engineering findings, corrective actions, and completed tasks meticulously.
- Support administrative functions including personnel accountability and site management.
- Travel as required between ASAB and related sites to meet operational demands.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen holding an active Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Proven experience in mechanical or facilities engineering, construction management, or installation engineering roles.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in site or project management.
- Hands-on knowledge of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, pumps, and utilities.
- Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Familiarity with engineering processes related to design, inspection, maintenance, and project execution.
Preferred Experience and Credentials
- Possession of a Professional Engineer license or Engineer-in-Training certification is advantageous.
- Experience with U.S. Air Force programs, Department of Defense operations, or deployed contingency environments.
- Background working in overseas military installations or similar deployed settings.
- Experience overseeing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Air Force Civil Engineer units or installation engineering.
- Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria, Department of the Air Force Instructions, OSHA, and U.S. engineering codes.
