Airfield Driving Program Manager

Role Overview

The Airfield Driving Program Manager is responsible for designing, updating, and overseeing a comprehensive airfield driving program to guarantee the safe movement of vehicles, aircraft, and pedestrians within the airfield. This involves close coordination with senior base leadership and various support agencies to ensure efficient implementation and continuous management.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the Wing's designated Airfield Driving Program Manager, managing all aspects of the Airfield Driving Program lifecycle.
• Create, revise, and maintain the Wing Airfield Driving Instructions, training and testing materials, as well as local operational procedures.
• Train and certify unit-level Airfield Driving Program Managers to deliver training, tests, and assessments to assigned personnel.
• Deliver initial, recurring, and remedial airfield driving trainings, including both classroom education and practical assessments.
• Maintain comprehensive records related to training, certifications, violations, and licenses in line with DoD and USAF regulations.
• Manage issuance, tracking, and revocation of Airfield Driving Licenses ensuring compliance with all relevant directives and instructions.
• Lead the Runway Incursion Prevention Program through analysis of trends, implementation of corrective actions, and coordination with Wing Safety officials.
• Investigate incidents involving airfield driving violations, runway incursions, and safety events, developing corrective strategies and reporting outcomes to Airfield Management leadership.
• Perform program audits, conduct spot checks, and enforce compliance inspections across units to maintain adherence to airfield driving standards.
• Provide ongoing briefings to Wing leadership regarding program effectiveness, compliance issues, and risk mitigation efforts.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possess a 7-skill level certification from a recognized DoD institution or an equivalent civilian credential.
• Documented familiarity with ICAO procedures and at least one year of experience implementing airfield safety measures and managing airfield flight line drivers programs.
• Ability to collaborate with Wing Safety, Airfield Management, Airfield Operations, and tenant units effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary for program documentation, presenting briefings, and incident reporting.
• Knowledgeable in airfield operations, ATC radio phraseology, airfield risk management, and safety initiatives.
• Must be eligible to obtain and sustain a U.S. Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship mandatory).
• Required to obtain and maintain a U.S. CENTCOM Medical Examination clearance.
