Accounts Payable Specialist

About the Role

Located in Puyallup, WA, this on-site, full-time position offers an hourly wage between $26 and $31. Workdays are Monday through Friday during standard business hours. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be an integral member of the Accounting team at Northwest Cascade, home of Honey Bucket, contributing to the smooth operation of an automated, paperless accounts payable process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the processing, review, and coding of vendor invoices through systems like Continia Document Management and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Ensure invoices proceed through approval workflows promptly while addressing any exceptions to maintain payment accuracy and timeliness.
• Set up and maintain OCR templates and document processing rules to improve efficiency.
• Execute weekly check runs with thorough verification of payment terms, approvals, and associated documentation.
• Reconcile vendor account statements and investigate any discrepancies or unresolved issues.
• Provide timely and professional responses to vendor and internal inquiries related to accounts payable.
• Maintain precise records of vendors and accounts payable transactions.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks within accounts payable and propose process improvements.
• Support testing of system upgrades and adoption of new accounting technologies.
• Offer additional assistance to the Accounting team as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Prior experience in accounts payable is essential.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new accounting software and business systems.
• Familiarity with ERP systems or automated invoice processing platforms is advantageous; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Continia is a plus but not mandatory.
• Detail-oriented with a good balance between accuracy and speed.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
