About the Role
Emirates Power Operation & Maintenance (EMPOWER Saudi O&M LLC) seeks a seasoned Accountant to enhance our team based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The role demands expertise in project accounting, cost control, invoicing, collections, accounts payable, VAT compliance, financial reporting, and cash-flow oversight, ideally within sectors such as contracting, construction, engineering, power, oil & gas, or industrial maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting activities ensuring precise maintenance of financial records.
- Maintain and reconcile General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank transactions.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to establish project budgets, track expenditures, and assess cost deviations.
- Prepare and dispatch client invoices and progress billings while ensuring timely receivables and collections.
- Manage supplier invoice processing, verify purchase orders, oversee subcontractor payments, and control retention disbursements.
- Assist in month-end and year-end financial closures.
- Compile Work-In-Progress (WIP) schedules, financial statements, and management reports.
- Contribute to cash-flow forecasting, budgeting, and overall financial planning.
- Handle monthly payroll processing and related account reconciliations.
- Review employee expense claims to guarantee accurate accounting treatment.
- Prepare VAT filings and ensure adherence to Saudi tax laws and relevant financial statutes.
- Coordinate financial matters across Procurement, Projects, HR, and Operations departments.
- Support both internal and external auditing processes and ensure thorough documentation of financial transactions.
- Continuously seek improvements in accounting processes and enhance financial controls.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of pertinent accounting experience.
- Background in contracting, construction, engineering, power plants, oil & gas sectors, or industrial maintenance highly preferred.
- Proficient in project-based accounting including job costing, project budgeting, cost management, and Percentage-of-Completion revenue recognition.
- Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger management, financial reporting, billing, collections, and bank reconciliations.
- Familiarity with Zoho Books or comparable accounting/ERP software is an advantage.
- Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of Saudi VAT regulations and relevant financial compliance requirements.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, SOCPA or equivalent are a plus.
- Strong analytical skills paired with excellent numerical, organizational, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including project management, procurement, operations, and leadership.
