Role Overview

We are seeking a Trades or Technical professional to join our facilities team as a Data Centre Technician operating on a continuous 24/7 schedule. This entry-level position offers comprehensive on-the-job training encompassing all facets of data centre facility management, including cooling systems, electrical infrastructure, cabling, building monitoring, and fire safety systems.

This position is based in Macquarie Park, Sydney, and involves supporting daily operations of the data centre by delivering reliable technical maintenance and exceptional customer service, with occasional inter-site travel during shifts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide cabling solutions, both electrical and data, to customer racks and designated areas.
• Respond promptly to remote service requests from customers.
• Assist in managing vendor relationships for maintenance of essential electrical and mechanical systems.
• Identify and resolve facility issues efficiently to maintain seamless operations.
• Continuously monitor building management and associated monitoring systems around the clock, escalating problems internally or to vendors as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with facility policies by all visitors and contractors.
• Perform necessary manual handling tasks as part of daily duties.

This role emphasizes practical facility management over IT specialization, requiring hands-on operational involvement.

Working Conditions

• The role operates on a rotating 4–5–5 shift pattern, with day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Candidate Qualifications

• Strong customer service aptitude with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
• Basic understanding of data centres, data cabling, and cable management is advantageous.
• A keen interest in telecommunications, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Qualifications such as TAFE Certificate in Telecommunications or trade certifications in Electrician or HVAC Technician fields are desirable.
• Applicants must be Australian citizens to comply with security clearance requirements.
