Vice President, Project Management

Overview

The Vice President of Project Management plays a pivotal leadership role overseeing project governance and strategic execution across the organization. This position is accountable for setting up an enterprise-wide project management framework, managing the project portfolio, and steering major projects to successful completion. The individual ensures that projects align with corporate strategies, product objectives, and business goals, delivering value on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the overarching project management strategy and roadmap for the company.
• Establish and lead an enterprise-level Project Management Office (PMO) including governance structures.
• Create standardized methodologies and lifecycle processes to manage projects consistently and efficiently.
• Continuously enhance project management tools, systems, and workflows for optimal efficiency.
• Oversee the entire project portfolio, assessing priorities for strategic alignment and business value.
• Optimize resource distribution and budget spending across projects to maximize returns.
• Lead execution of significant company initiatives such as digital transformation, system upgrades, and new business launches.
• Implement robust mechanisms for setting milestones, conducting stage-gate reviews, and ensuring delivery quality and timeliness.
• Identify and resolve critical project issues and risks promptly during execution phases.
• Coordinate efforts across departments including Product, R&D, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to ensure goal alignment and seamless collaboration.
• Set up communication channels, decision-making frameworks, and escalation paths to facilitate project delivery.
• Measure project performance through KPIs and conduct comprehensive operational analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement by performing post-project reviews and sharing insights with executive leadership.
• Build and lead the PMO and project management teams, nurturing talent development and adopting professional certifications like PMP and Agile.
• Promote a strong execution culture supporting high-performance project delivery.
• Implement risk management and compliance practices involving budget, contract, delivery, and operational controls to protect brand reputation and customer trust.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Project Management, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or related discipline.
• Preferred certifications include PMP, PgMP; MBA is advantageous.
• Extensive experience exceeding 20 years in project or comprehensive operations management.
• At least 15 years overseeing large-scale complex projects or leading a PMO.
• Demonstrated success managing cross-departmental and global project initiatives.
• Experience in digital transformation or enterprise-level project oversight is highly favored.
• Strong capabilities in governance, portfolio oversight, strategic execution, risk management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Prior exposure to Agile, SAFe frameworks, and reporting to CEOs or Boards of Directors is desirable.
• Experience within large conglomerates or multinational organizations is a plus.
