Job Overview

The Transport Planner plays a vital role in planning routes, managing schedules, and optimizing load distribution within the logistics network. This role collaborates closely with dispatch, warehouse, and third-party logistics teams to ensure shipments are moved efficiently, cost-effectively, and punctually.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize daily transport routes and vehicle assignments to enhance fleet utilization and reduce delays.
• Use Jumia's transport management systems and tools to develop and adjust routes dynamically according to demand, traffic conditions, and delivery service level agreements.
• Prepare and share daily and weekly capacity plans based on shipment volumes and package size categories.
• Coordinate schedules for pickups and deliveries with dispatch teams, warehouse operations, and third-party logistics providers.
• Monitor delivery-related metrics such as timely deliveries, fuel consumption, vehicle usage, and route compliance, suggesting improvements as needed.
• Identify inefficiencies in routing and load planning to contribute to cost-saving strategies.
• Collaborate to resolve scheduling conflicts, exceptions, and escalations alongside dispatch and customer service teams.
• Maintain thorough planning documentation and produce reports on route performance and capacity management for leadership.
• Work closely with warehouse and network teams to synchronize transport plans with inbound and outbound volume forecasts.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Preferably hold a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related fields.
• Background in logistics, transportation planning, or dispatch operations.
• Skilled in using Transport Management Systems (TMS), route optimization software, and data analysis tools such as Excel.
• Data-driven with solid analytical skills, experienced in monitoring KPIs and analyzing route effectiveness.
• Knowledgeable about supply chain dynamics, last-mile delivery challenges, and e-commerce logistics.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple planning priorities.
• Effective communication skills to facilitate coordination with diverse stakeholders including dispatch, warehouse, and third-party logistics teams.
• Must possess an NYSC certificate or an official exemption letter.
