Job description

Role Overview

Food Surplus Management (FSM) seeks a dedicated Transport Coordinator to oversee nationwide food surplus collection activities. This on-site, full-time role primarily operates Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or bank holiday shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage transport routes targeting specific customers or regions.
  • Ensure collections and deliveries occur on schedule and as planned.
  • Maintain clear communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Address operational changes promptly and resolve delivery or collection issues.
  • Keep detailed records of transport activities and customer data.
  • Generate monthly transport performance reports for the Accounts department.
  • Consistently provide exceptional customer service.
  • Identify and suggest improvements for route efficiency, operational processes, and fleet utilization.
  • Assist the Transport Manager in evolving transport strategies and operations.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of three years’ experience coordinating or planning transport logistics.
  • Working knowledge of transport laws and regulations.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable using transport management or planning software and basic computer applications.
  • Positive, adaptable, and collaborative team player.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Qualifications in logistics, transport management, or a related field are preferred.
  • Transport Manager CPC certification is a plus but not mandatory.
