Position Overview
The Training and Placement Officer (TPO) is responsible for securing employment and practical experience opportunities within business, industry, and academia for students across all departments of the college. This role includes counseling students, enhancing their employability, and facilitating internships and final placements.
Educational Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a graduate or postgraduate degree in any discipline, accompanied by 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate with potential recruiting companies to organize interview schedules and related events.
- Enhance placement quality by attracting reputable companies and improving job opportunities and salary packages year after year.
- Coordinate summer and winter internships in companies with promising conversion to full-time employment.
- Gather detailed job descriptions and requirements from company representatives and promptly share the information with students.
- Travel to various cities to build and maintain strong relations with companies to promote ongoing recruitment.
Corporate Relations and Placement Coordination
- Attract new employers and nurture relationships with existing clients.
- Invite companies for campus and online interviews.
- Support logistical arrangements such as travel and accommodation for placement activities.
- Follow up on the recruitment process to obtain confirmations, joining dates, and offer letters.
- Monitor and maintain comprehensive placement records.
- Provide companies with databases of eligible candidates matching their criteria.
- Arrange interview venues and facilities on campus.
- Relay industry feedback, market trends, and employer expectations to students.
Career Guidance and Student Support
- Counsel students regularly to increase acceptance rates of job offers.
- Advocate for students by aligning their skills and expectations with available job opportunities.
- Prepare students for interviews and evaluate their potential alongside trainers.
- Support students throughout the interview to onboarding process.
- Offer advice and guidance through one-on-one meetings, group discussions, and digital communications.
- Collaborate closely with the Student Placement Committee and departmental heads.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Understanding of industry demographics is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Willingness to travel as required.
