Due to an internal promotion, we have a vacancy for a Territory Sales Executive to join our Commercial team in Christchurch. If you thrive in building strong relationships, delivering results, and enjoy a dynamic, field-based sales role, this could be the perfect fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and expand a portfolio of retail customers throughout Christchurch and the broader South Island region.
- Foster robust relationships with retailers to identify growth opportunities and enhance sales performance.
- Execute PMI's commercial strategies with excellence, including trade programs, promotional events, and in-store initiatives.
- Develop and follow detailed territory plans to meet and exceed sales goals and commercial targets.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to spot opportunities for growth and potential risks.
- Maintain an effective customer visit schedule and ongoing engagement across the territory.
- Negotiate and influence outcomes aligned with company objectives.
- Monitor competitor activities and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to implement commercial initiatives and improve customer experience.
- Keep accurate records and reports using company systems and tools.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong sales and relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing abilities.
- Highly organized with effective territory planning and time management capabilities.
- Competency in data analysis, translating insights to commercial actions.

- Ability to handle multiple priorities independently.
- Comfortable engaging with a diverse group of retail customers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with CRM and sales management software.
- Background in field sales, territory or account management, business development, or customer-facing commercial roles.
- Proven track record of meeting sales targets and driving business growth.
- Understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and in-store execution standards.
- Ability to interpret sales metrics and market trends for strategic decision-making.
- Knowledge of sales planning, negotiation, and customer development principles.
- Experience in FMCG, retail, telecommunications, or similar fast-paced sectors preferred.
- Familiarity with Christchurch and South Island retail markets is advantageous.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the South Island, including overnight stays (5 to 7 days monthly, with travel to Nelson and Blenheim).
Qualifications & Additional Requirements
- Preferred bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Sales, or related fields.
- Valid full New Zealand driver's license.
