Role Overview
This role is integral to the McKesson Technology team, steering digital transformation through the application and integration of artificial intelligence (AI). The Technical AI Enablement Senior Engineer collaborates cross-functionally with infrastructure, cloud, and data teams to design, build, and operationalize AI solutions that align with business goals, ensuring architectural integrity and scalable deployment. Reporting directly to the VP of AI & Automation, this position requires translating ideas into technically sound, compliant, and secure AI implementations that deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and data teams to architect and deliver scalable AI solutions.
- Maintain architectural soundness, security, and compliance for AI systems.
- Convert business needs and concepts into detailed technical plans and executable strategies.
- Implement best coding standards, testing protocols, and deployment practices.
- Lead transition of AI prototypes to fully functioning operational systems.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical challenges to ensure effective AI adoption.
- Establish and propagate best practices for AI deployment and lifecycle management.
- Serve as a technical liaison across business, data, and technology groups, enabling knowledge sharing and enhancement of organizational AI capabilities.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive expertise in AI and automation technologies, with proven experience designing and implementing AI solutions.
- Strong architectural understanding ensuring systems that are scalable, secure, and reliable.
- Proficiency in translating business requirements into technical designs.
- Experience collaborating with infrastructure, cloud (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), and data teams.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record in deploying AI systems in production environments.
- Hands-on experience with MLOps pipelines, containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with AI frameworks/tools such as LangChain and OpenAI APIs.
- Experience with automation platforms like UiPath.
- Programming skills in Python and SQL, with ability to use APIs effectively.
Preferred Experience and Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
- Over 5 years of industry experience, with at least 2 years in AI/automation deployment or technical enablement.
- Familiarity with large scale, multinational corporate environments.
- Hands-on expertise in cloud architecture, Kubernetes, and scalable solution designs.
- Relevant certifications in AI, cloud computing, or automation technologies.
