Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Home Support Workers to provide personalized care for clients in their own homes within the Taranaki region. This role is vital in supporting individuals to live independently, safely, and comfortably by attending to their unique care needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support clients with mobility and safe transfers, utilizing mobility aids as needed.
- Perform light household duties, assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding.
- Offer companionship and emotional support through meaningful engagement and conversation.
- Accompany clients to appointments and social or community activities to encourage social involvement.
- Administer medications and undertake health-related tasks as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Monitor vital signs, aid with physical therapy exercises, and watch for any side effects.

Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of six months experience as a Support Worker.
- Preferred experience working with clients who have brain and spinal injuries.
- Possession of Health and Wellbeing Level 3 or Level 4 qualifications is preferred.
- Certifications in Brain Injury Support, Pressure Injury care, and managing complex medical needs are advantageous.
- Strong empathy and genuine passion for assisting individuals requiring support.
- Ability to respond sensitively to the emotional and care needs of clients.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have legal eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Hold a full or restricted driver’s license and have dependable transportation.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Compensation
- Level 0: $23.95 per hour (no equivalent health and wellbeing qualifications)
- Level 2: $24.78 per hour (holders of Level 2 qualification or equivalent)
- Level 3: $26.94 per hour (holders of Level 3 qualification or equivalent)
- Level 4: $29.10 per hour (holders of Level 4 qualification or equivalent)
