About Quest Global
Quest Global is a global engineering company headquartered in Singapore, operating in 17 countries with over 17,800 employees. We specialize in delivering comprehensive, industry-specific engineering solutions, with expertise across aerospace & defense, automotive, energy, hi-tech, med-tech, rail, semiconductor, and communications sectors. With over 25 years of experience, we are committed to solving complex engineering challenges and building a better future.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
This role is based in Bengaluru and requires 2 to 8 years of relevant experience. The core function involves conducting fatigue and damage tolerance (F&DT) analyses and producing justifications for primary structural elements (PSEs) of wing structures. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with offshore team members or lead teams to support customers by delivering F&DT and static stress substantiation for design deviations through engineering analyses following established standards and procedures.
- Ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality delivery of static justifications.
- Engage with the customer’s single point of contact (SPOC) to address queries and incorporate feedback.
- Achieve customer satisfaction and meet Quest Global's KPIs.
- Develop and implement training plans for quick deployment of new engineers to the team.
Experience and Skills Required
- Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 8 years of hands-on experience with deep understanding of airframe static stress methods including finite element analysis (FEA) and manual hand calculations.
- Good knowledge of static and fatigue design parameters such as ultimate tensile strength (Ftu), yield strength (Fty), cyclic yield strength (Fcy), Allowable Fatigue Index (AFI), S-N curve parameters, and fracture toughness.
- Proficiency in fatigue calculations, including hand calculations, DFEM, ISAMI, GFEM load redistribution, and understanding sequence stresses related to fatigue and crack propagation.
- Familiarity with mission profiles, rainflow counting, Miner’s rule, stress files, FESPS databases, and spectra generation.
- Ability to calculate stress concentration factors using Peterson’s method, DFEM, or ISAMI modules.
- Capability to interpret engineering drawings to identify details such as fastener diameters, fit, specifications, and surface treatments relevant to fatigue analysis.
- Working knowledge of various ISAMI modules including metallic and composite filled holes, lug analysis, notch sensitivity, damage tolerance, tension fitting, and fatigue spectrum analyses (1D and 2D).
- Experience developing, applying, and verifying technical solutions and compliance documentation adhering to customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements within project and manufacturing constraints.
- Strong grasp of airframe fatigue substantiation, including safe life and fracture mechanics approaches.
- In-depth knowledge of structural design principles, aircraft loads, and Airbus manuals; experience with Airbus-specific static analysis methods and tools is advantageous.
- Proficiency in static analysis of aircraft structures, including linear and nonlinear metallic analysis.
- Practical experience creating stress justification reports and stress hand calculations in collaboration with approval authorities.
- Familiarity with software tools such as Hypermesh, MSC Nastran, Patran, and ISAMI.
- Ability to conduct finite element modelling, validate results, and ensure design integrity of outputs.
- Additional advantage for candidates with experience in Python scripting and automation tools.
- Willingness to contribute to continuous process improvements and support test plan development or alternative compliance demonstrations for certification.
