Role Overview
We are searching for a skilled Solar Inspection Technician experienced in residential solar operations to support inspection activities across active markets. This pivotal field position ensures solar projects meet inspection readiness, code compliance, and obtain successful approvals from Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and utility companies. The successful candidate will have a strong solar background, operational insight, and the ability to detect installation issues preemptively to avoid inspection failures.
Responsibilities
- Examine completed residential solar installations to confirm they are ready for inspections.
- Ensure all projects comply with company standards, AHJ codes, and utility mandates.
- Detect and report installation defects, quality issues, and code violations ahead of inspections.
- Collaborate with installation, electrical, service, and operations teams to address corrective actions.
- Attend inspections and maintain professional interactions with inspectors and AHJs.
- Verify all necessary labeling, placards, documents, and readiness materials are properly in place.
- Accurately document inspection outcomes, deficiencies, and corrected issues.
- Prepare for reinspections and confirm corrections when required.
- Conduct quality audits to enhance inspection pass rates and promote consistent installation quality.
- Provide operational teams with insight on improving installation quality and minimizing inspection failures.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in residential solar projects is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of solar installation practices and project workflows.
- Capability to identify operational and installation issues effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship.
- Strong communication skills suited for interacting with inspectors, homeowners, and colleagues.
- Ability to operate independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comfort working on rooftops and ladders in outdoor environments.
- Highly organized with excellent documentation abilities.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Skills
- Previous roles in solar inspection, quality control, service, or installation.
- Basic knowledge of NEC electrical codes and solar electrical systems.
- Possession of OSHA 10 certification.
- Experience collaborating with AHJs, permitting offices, or utility inspectors.
- Electrical trade experience is an advantage.
