Software Engineer - GIS and UX Specialist

About the Role

Join BT Group as a Software Engineer focusing on GIS and User Experience (UX) to lead comprehensive development efforts across the Physical Network Inventory (PNI) lifecycle, including planning, development, building, operation, and maintenance phases. This role demands creating scalable, user-friendly, GIS-enabled, and map-centric applications for managing physical network assets and their spatial relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end development of intuitive user experiences throughout the full PNI lifecycle.
• Convert complicated network inventory data models—covering assets, connectivity, and topology—into accessible UX/UI designs.
• Develop GIS-centered applications that facilitate visualization and interaction with network spatial data.
• Implement process flow-driven applications addressing work order lifecycle, asset management, and network analysis.
• Integrate spatial and enterprise workflows by connecting PNI with field collection apps, process flow systems, and address management platforms.
• Create interfaces combining map layers, tabular datasets, and process flow panels to provide multi-perspective views.
• Ensure real-time data synchronization between network development, field execution, and operations to maintain data consistency.
• Collaborate with multiple teams—platform, GIS, integration, and delivery—to align developments with architectural standards and interoperability.
• Design for data quality and validation, handling geospatial conflicts, address discrepancies, and field data disparities.
• Establish and uphold standards and reusable components for map interactions, cross-system processes, and data exception management.
• Conduct development workshops, usability tests, and field validation sessions involving planners, engineers, and operations personnel.
• Support Product Owners and delivery teams with backlog refinement informed by a clear understanding of process flows and system integrations.

Required Experience and Skills

• 6 to 10+ years of professional experience developing GIS products and UX for enterprise platforms.
• Expertise in building complex, processflow-intense, role-based systems integrated with GIS or map-based technologies.
• Proven skills in integrating systems including field data capture apps, workflow management tools, and location/address management systems.
• Ability to create data-rich and spatially intricate user interfaces involving large datasets and hierarchical network relations.
• In-depth understanding of GIS interaction patterns such as layer control, feature editing, and navigation tools like zoom and pan.
• Proficiency in translating complex geospatial data models into intuitive user interactions.
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering, integration, product, and architecture teams.
• Experience with ARCGIS Pro and ARCGIS Portal platforms.
• Competence in developing multi-step workflows incorporating dependencies, system integrations, and exception handling.
• Excellent analytical capabilities for problem-solving in ambiguous and complex scenarios.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Educational Qualification and Eligibility

Applicants must hold a B.Tech or B.E. degree in any specialization.

Compensation

Annual salary ranges between 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 INR.
