Job description
About the Role
This position involves the development of software applications on Windows platforms using languages such as C/C++, C#, VB, and LabVIEW. Candidates should have hands-on experience working with industrial automation systems that require mechatronics knowledge. This includes practical skills interfacing with National Instruments DAQ systems and EtherCAT devices, along with proficiency in Visual Studio IDE and NI LabVIEW environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementing and coding according to defined system architecture for industrial automation applications.
- Understanding and applying architectural design within established frameworks.
- Adhering to project execution timelines and plans.
- Possessing strong knowledge in automation frameworks, programming languages, and software development methodologies such as Agile, e-plan, and C#.
- Executing test plans effectively.
- Communicating and negotiating efficiently across teams and stakeholders.
- Adapting swiftly to ambiguity and exhibiting result-driven mindset.
- Working onsite at shop floors for equipment trials and being open to travel for equipment proving activities.
- Managing software development life cycle for rapid automation projects including analysis, architecture, engineering, coding, testing, and deployment to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery with optimal resource and budget use.
- Leading, mentoring, and nurturing a team of software engineers and automation specialists for maintenance and future product development, fostering collaborative and innovative cultures.
- Conducting performance evaluations and transferring knowledge related to business operations.
- Supervising all project-related tasks, setting achievable goals for team leads, and offering technical guidance where needed.
- Collaborating closely with Mechanical, Controls, Build, and Site teams to meet project deadlines.
- Researching and evaluating emerging technologies and tools to enhance automation systems and implement best coding practices such as modularity and object orientation for efficiency and quality improvements.
- Maintaining thorough documentation of technologies and projects, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Acting as the primary liaison between internal teams and outsourcing partners to ensure clear communication and smooth teamwork.
- Optimally allocating resources to fulfill project requirements and organizational goals, ensuring timely completion.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Expertise in industrial automation with specific knowledge of motion and digital input/output control and closed-loop systems.
- Experience interfacing with diverse external devices including laser cutting and welding machines, robotics, and CCD cameras.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++, C#, and VB.
