Job description
Overview
This role focuses on the safe and sanitary handling of shipments and inventory within a chocolate production environment. The Shipping Receiving Associate conducts thorough inspections of incoming liquid, bulk, and palletized shipments, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and hygiene standards such as GMP, HACCP, and allergen management. The position requires collaboration within a team and individual accountability to support accurate inventory management and timely processing of materials.
Key Duties
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and equipment ensuring all safety and quality procedures are strictly followed, including lockout tag out protocols.
- Inspect trucks, verify carrier details and documentation, and oversee bulk/liquid offloading processes, promptly reporting any issues to supervisors.
- Assess palletized deliveries for cleanliness, seals, and damages that could affect product integrity, communicating concerns immediately.
- Unload and properly store received products following stacking guidelines and maintain accurate computer inventory records, including cycle counts.
- Stage raw materials and packaging, move finished goods appropriately, and ensure precise recording of all movements within inventory systems.
- Inspect outgoing dry goods shipments for cleanliness and damage, load securely to avoid product damage, and prepare shipment documentation.
- Operate with respect for others, upholding company values and performing additional duties as assigned.
Physical and Safety Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, perform bending, stooping, reaching, and occasionally climb stairs.
- Experience operating and adjusting machinery such as pumps, valves, and hoses.
- Capable of repetitively moving items up to 50 pounds.
- Strict adherence to safety and hygiene protocols including OSHA lockout/tagout, GMP, HACCP, and allergen controls.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 1-2 years work experience, preferably in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations.
- Forklift operation and working at heights experience are advantageous.
- Ability to follow clear instructions with proficiency in reading and writing English.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify, communicate, and resolve issues independently or with team support.
- Capability to interact effectively with truck drivers and inventory personnel.
- Competency in basic math required for inventory cycle counts.
Compensation and Schedule
The anticipated salary range is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. This is a 12-hour day shift rotation role. Compensation may vary based on qualifications and experience.
