About the Company

Our client is a well-established dairy company based in New Zealand with a prominent presence in international export markets. Their operations span a network of company-owned and third-party warehouses, supporting a high-volume and fast-paced logistics environment.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Group Logistics Manager, the Senior Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing outbound shipment planning and execution across worldwide markets. This central role involves collaboration with carriers, third-party logistics (3PL) partners, and internal teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective freight movement.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule outbound shipments globally by selecting the most suitable carriers and vessels.
• Monitor container availability, address any disruptions, and manage volume forecasts for shipping lines and warehouses.
• Serve as the main liaison for 3PL partners, ensuring their performance meets agreed service standards for receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch.
• Detect and resolve service-related issues, and implement corrective measures as necessary.
• Assist in tendering, onboarding, and transitioning new 3PL providers.
• Spot opportunities to optimize costs across freight and warehousing networks.
• Participate in network design, capacity planning, and long-term warehousing strategies.
• Ensure freight rates remain current and that costs are correctly billed to customers.
• Maintain high standards of data accuracy.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of five years’ experience in supply chain, freight, or logistics roles.
• Deep understanding of international shipping practices, carrier management, and container logistics.
• Demonstrated expertise managing 3PL relationships with an ability to enforce accountability.
• Strong commercial insight to identify cost-saving strategies.
• Excellent attention to detail with disciplined data management skills.
• Proficient in communication and stakeholder management across diverse teams.
• Ability to operate effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Preferably holds tertiary qualifications in supply chain or logistics disciplines.
• Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is advantageous.
