Senior Executive, Inventory Control

Role overview

This position supports day-to-day inventory control work and helps keep stock records accurate across retail stores, warehouses, and restaurants. The role is centered on checking inventory, finding mismatches, tracking basic cost movements, and monitoring usage variances.

Core responsibilities

• Carry out planned and unplanned stock checks at outlets, warehouses, and restaurants.
• Count physical inventory and compare the results with system-based records.
• Spot stock differences, document them clearly, and report them to the relevant teams.
• Review inventory movements such as transfers, returns, wastage, breakages, and adjustments.
• Keep complete supporting records and an audit trail for all inventory-related actions.
• Help prepare simple reports on inventory usage and cost movements.
• Track actual consumption against expected consumption and highlight unusual variances.
• Do an initial check of data and transactions when discrepancies are found.
• Escalate significant variances to Finance or Management for deeper review.
• Prepare inventory adjustment entries after findings have been approved.
• Ensure every adjustment is backed by proper documentation.
• Keep inventory information updated and accurate in ERP and POS systems.
• Support the rollout and observance of inventory SOPs and internal controls.
• Call out process gaps, repeated issues, and non-compliance.
• Help improve stock handling and recording practices.
• Maintain records of discrepancies and the actions taken afterward.
• Support month-end and year-end stock take activities.
• Coordinate with warehouse, retail, and food-and-beverage operations teams on inventory matters.

Requirements

• Diploma qualification in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline.
• About 2 to 5 years of experience in inventory control, stock auditing, or operations, preferably in retail or F&B settings.
• Exposure to retail, F&B, or FMCG operations will be an added advantage.
• Working knowledge of inventory processes, controls, and stock management basics.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and ERP/POS platforms.
• Very strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic analytical and troubleshooting ability to identify and explain variances.
• Disciplined, methodical, and able to follow procedures consistently.
• Good communication skills for working with operations and finance stakeholders.
• High integrity and a strong sense of accountability.
• Prepared to travel between outlets and warehouses when needed.
• Hands-on approach and able to work effectively in operational environments.
