About the Role

Join a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to ethics and quality assurance within a leading Canadian accounting and advisory firm. As a Senior Accountant in Ethics, you'll contribute significantly to upholding ethical standards across the organization and ensuring compliance with professional regulations. This role involves advisory responsibilities, promoting best practices in ethics, and identifying and managing risks to maintain the firm’s high standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Managers, Directors, and Partners to provide guidance and assist team members in implementing relevant ethical frameworks and professional codes.
  • Ensure adherence to the Canadian CPA Rules of Professional Conduct, including Codes of Ethics.
  • Support compliance with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board's (PCAOB) Ethics & Independence Rules and the Securities Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Auditor Independence Rules.
  • Oversee the firm's ongoing conformity with regulatory standards, internal policies, and professional conduct rules.
  • Coordinate the review of client press releases to maintain updated prohibited investment listings timely.
  • Partner with the team to develop and deliver ethics-focused thought leadership content and training materials for internal educational programs.
  • Drive innovation by contributing ideas and processes that enhance work quality and ethics management.
  • Support the adoption of technology solutions aimed at improving ethics-related functions.
  • Be prepared for business travel as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Successfully attained the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Possess 2 to 3 years of pertinent professional experience.
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal; proficiency in French is advantageous.
  • Sound understanding of Canadian provincial and territorial CPA rules of professional conduct, especially around independence and conflicts of interest.
  • Demonstrate pragmatic problem-solving skills and maintain high quality standards.
  • Handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality and discretion.
  • Exhibit excellent collaboration, leadership, and communication abilities.
  • Experience with the International Ethics Standards Board’s (IESBA) Code of Ethics and/or the American Institute of CPAs’ (AICPA) Code of Professional Conduct is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers an annual salary range of $75,000 to $94,000.
