Role Summary
We are looking for a motivated and competent individual to join our team, focusing on maintaining and enhancing the outdoor spaces of the school. This role contributes significantly to the upkeep and safety of our grounds and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Regular mowing and trimming of grass areas, including ovals, on a weekly or fortnightly schedule.
- Garden maintenance with regular weeding and upkeep of existing landscape features.
- Clearing and maintaining drains and gutters consistently.
- Daily raking and upkeep of sandpits.
- Assisting with waste collection around school premises, including food and paper waste.
- Conducting immediate cleaning duties when necessary to maintain the school environment.
- Supporting event logistics, such as setup and takedown for major sporting or school events.
- Securing school facilities through locking and unlocking buildings within designated hours.
- Maintaining physical infrastructure including buildings, seating areas, gates, and amenities, excluding any qualified trade work.
- Coordinating and supporting on-site tradespeople or building contractors as directed by school leadership.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards, including proper storage and handling of chemicals, fertilizers, and fuels.
- Identifying and reporting safety hazards promptly.
- Managing equipment records and performing maintenance on tools and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Arranging and attending to repairs for furniture, equipment, locks, windows, and facilities.
- Operating and maintaining school-specific equipment such as mowers, cutters, and power tools.
- Collaborating with team members to foster a positive and supportive school culture.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a current Blue Card.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping activities.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A positive attitude with a strong commitment to completing tasks efficiently.
