Sales Assistant

About the role

Platypus Shoes is seeking motivated retail team members in Mackay to help deliver an excellent in-store experience and support the management team in achieving strong sales and smooth day-to-day operations. The store sits within Accent Group, a major footwear business across Australia and New Zealand with more than 900 stores, 34 brands, and 30+ online platforms, including Platypus, Skechers, Hype DC, Vans, Dr. Martens, Subtype, The Athletes Foot, Merrell, Timberland, Stylerunner, Hoka, UGG, Saucony, Sports Direct and Nude Lucy.

Key responsibilities

The role supports the store leadership team in improving sales performance, maintaining operational standards and contributing to overall store success.

• Deliver a high standard of customer service and create a memorable shopping experience.
• Assist with day-to-day retail operations and store presentation.
• Work collaboratively with the team in a busy, energetic environment.
• Help drive sales and support the store in meeting and exceeding targets.
• Use customer feedback and coaching constructively to improve performance.

What you need

• Strong commitment to excellent customer service.
• Interest in streetwear and sneaker culture.
• Ability to perform well in a high-energy, fast-moving team environment.
• Self-driven attitude with a focus on sales targets.
• Willingness to take feedback on board and apply it positively.
• Full availability for late-night trading and weekends.
• Previous customer service experience in retail, hospitality or supermarket retail.
