Role Overview

Join the Mission Recycling Depots as a Recycling Attendant, where you will contribute to safe, efficient, and customer-centric depot operations. You will handle inspections of recyclables, assist customers professionally, and maintain site cleanliness and standards. This role involves exposure to varying weather and noise, requiring adaptability and strict adherence to safety protocols. Occasional work at the Abbotsford Mission Recycling Depot is expected.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate effectively in a team, following all workplace safety and company guidelines.
• Check incoming recyclables for compliance with facility criteria, provide essential recycling services, and educate the community on proper recycling methods.
• Deliver outstanding customer service for residential and commercial patrons, including managing traffic flow as needed.
• Engage in training to develop skills relevant to all duties.
• Maintain the depot's cleanliness, organization, and safety consistently.
• Assist the Site Supervisor in ensuring regulatory and company standards are met at the Abbotsford and Mission sites.
• Oversee inventory control in coordination with the Site Supervisor and team to comply with contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Suggest enhancements to improve operational efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
• Help train new staff on depot operations, material handling, and safety procedures.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Candidate Profile

• Dedication to supporting sustainable practices and community service.
• Capable of primarily outdoor work around the recycling facility.
• Strong safety focus throughout all responsibilities.
• Preferably 2–3 years of experience in a customer-facing role.
• Proactive and eager to learn continuously.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities both verbally and in writing.
• Experience with operating small machinery like forklifts is advantageous but not required.
• Willing to work in day shifts on a four-days-on, four-days-off schedule including some weekends.
• Positive, hands-on attitude with a friendly demeanor; a good sense of humor is a valued asset.
