About DOSB and the Role

The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) serves as the independent umbrella organization for sports in Germany. Within it, the German Sports Youth (dsj) represents the interests of more than 10 million young people involved in sports clubs nationwide, managing activities of its 88 member organizations and innovating youth-oriented sports programs.

This new movement initiative leverages Germany’s bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire children and youth to be more active, engaged in sports, and embrace Olympic and Paralympic values. Core focuses include enhancing participation, personal growth, educational opportunities, stronger school-sports club cooperation, expanded activities during full-day programs, resilience and mental health, promoting boys, fairness, anti-discrimination, and youth volunteering.

Within the Youth Sports department, DOSB is seeking a Project Manager for Physical Activity Promotion in full-time capacity (39 hours per week), on a fixed-term contract through December 31, 2027. The position is based in Frankfurt.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and advance a nationwide project to encourage movement among children and adolescents together with the dsj office team, aiming to motivate youth, reinforce clubs involved in full-day programs, and leverage the influence of organized sports.
Advise and support dsj member organizations' projects ("GamesLabs") through expert consultation, quality assurance, networking, and managing educational events.
Partner with academics, sport practitioners, youth work professionals, educators, civil society members, and young people to further develop the "Innovation Lab" and spotlight novel approaches.
Design and implement formats that actively promote youth participation.
Prepare, review, and manage funding applications and expenditure reports.
Create tailored informational and communication materials for various target groups.
Identify and secure follow-up funding and financing opportunities for projects.

Candidate Profile

A completed (technical) university degree in social sciences, sports sciences, education, communications, or related areas.
Demonstrated project management experience, including coordinating multiple stakeholders and partners.
Strong advisory skills combined with independent, structured, and solution-focused work habits.
Knowledge of structures within non-profit organized children’s and youth sports.
Preferably familiar with grant law and budget management.
Competent in preparing content appropriately for different audiences and clearly communicating messages.
Excellent communication skills, openness, and enthusiasm for teamwork in interdisciplinary groups.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 programs, especially SharePoint, Teams, and Office applications.
Flexible availability and willingness for occasional travel, including weekends.
