Project Manager - Data Science & Analytics

Position Overview

We seek an innovative Project Manager who prioritizes people-centric leadership to join our Data Science & Analytics (DS&A) Department. This role transcends mere task management or rigid process enforcement. You'll collaborate with the Head of DS&A, project leads, and in-charges to establish and operate an agile PMO that delivers transparency, consistent progress, and a strong client experience. Your responsibilities include managing stakeholder communications, translating complex AI and data science initiatives into persuasive business stories, and leading data and digital transformation projects from inception through completion. Core Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Head of DS&A to create and maintain a fit-for-purpose PMO across all DS&A projects by collecting structured inputs that enable realistic scheduling, early identification of dependencies, and centralized status tracking.
• Maintain active project documentation such as charters, delivery timelines, RACI charts, risk logs, and decision records that are practical and regularly used by teams.
• Implement lightweight governance practices like structured check-ins, milestone assessments, and retrospectives designed to accelerate team progress rather than hinder it.
• Act as the communication hub between DS&A teams, stakeholders, and clients, ensuring alignment without the need for follow-up chasing.
• Design and present client-facing materials that interpret complex AI, data science, and analytics deliverables into clear, credible narratives for non-technical executives and decision-makers.
• Proactively convey risks, balance trade-offs honestly, and maintain client confidence through transparent project communication.
• Lead full lifecycle execution of data and digital transformation projects—from discovery through implementation and review—in collaboration with Data Architects, Engineers, and Scientists.
• Manage client relationships, control scope, and creatively resolve challenges with minimal escalation alongside technical leads.
• Create repeatable delivery templates and playbooks to reduce onboarding time and improve consistency across projects.
• Develop an operational understanding of AI, machine learning, and analytics concepts sufficient to ask informed questions, scope projects properly, and translate technical results credibly to clients.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, and AI Engineers to design discovery and experimentation workflows and deployment schedules balancing rigor and agility.
• Innovate visualization methods for project progress, model performance, and business impact to facilitate comprehension among non-technical audiences.
• Introduce novel thinking to DS&A project planning and execution by challenging standard PM methods and designing delivery styles suited to the dynamic and ambiguous AI/data domain.
• Stay informed on trends in PMO practices, digital transformation, and AI project management; adopt tools and processes that enhance team effectiveness—prioritizing meaningful outcomes over process for process's sake.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline; PMP, PRINCE2, or similar certification is advantageous.
• Between four and seven years of project management experience, including at least two years focused on data, analytics, AI, or digital transformation projects.
• Excellent facilitation and communication capabilities, adept at conducting cross-functional workshops, drafting clear stakeholder communications, and confidently addressing C-suite clients.
• Strong technical literacy enabling understanding of development work without needing coding skills.
• Familiarity with establishing or operating within PMO functions; skilled in agile, waterfall, and hybrid project methodologies; experienced with tools like JIRA, Asana, Confluence, Monday, and proficient in creating compelling visuals with software such as PowerPoint and Miro.
• A creative problem solver who thrives in ambiguous environments, builds frameworks from the ground up, and performs well in complex, multi-disciplinary contexts.
• Fluency in English and Chinese is required.

• Fully operational DS&A PMO within three months, with governance processes implemented across all current projects that are valued by project leads as enhancing efficiency rather than burdening it.
