Project Controller

Role overview

PTM Consultants is expanding, and this opening is for a Project Controller to support the team in improving how projects are delivered, tracked commercially, forecasted, reported on, and coordinated across transport and infrastructure work.

The position is central to day-to-day project governance and works with Directors, Project Managers, and technical staff to keep delivery organized, financially controlled, resourced appropriately, and aligned with risk and programme expectations.

The right candidate will be methodical, commercially minded, proactive, and comfortable balancing several projects at the same time. Strong attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to keep project activity on track are essential.

This opportunity would suit someone with a background in project controls, programme coordination, commercial support, infrastructure delivery, or project management, particularly in engineering, transport, infrastructure, or professional services settings.

Key responsibilities

• Support project delivery governance across multiple transport and infrastructure assignments.
• Track commercial performance and help maintain accurate financial control.
• Assist with forecasting, reporting, and programme coordination.
• Work alongside Directors, Project Managers, and technical teams to improve delivery oversight.
• Contribute to resource planning and coordination across active projects.
• Monitor project risks and help keep work moving in the right direction.

Candidate profile

Applicants should have around 3–5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in project controls, programme coordination, commercial coordination, infrastructure delivery, or project management environments is preferred.

This role is open to candidates currently based in New Zealand who already have the legal right to work there. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are not available for this position.
