It is now entering a critical growth phase where the focus is on scaling the product without sacrificing quality. The Product Director position is created to lead this transformation by building operational systems that allow for scalable, high-quality product delivery, with AI integration as a core component.
Role Overview
Reporting to senior leadership, the Product Director will oversee the Product Development function, responsible for supporting a fast-expanding programme portfolio. The role involves converting strategic vision into scalable operational models, building infrastructure for sustainable growth, improving product quality throughout expansion, and leading the Product Development team. Collaboration with teams across learner delivery, commercial operations, technology, marketing, and partner success is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain operational infrastructure supporting programme development, launch, and ongoing enhancement.
- Ensure product quality along the customer journey by raising standards rather than compromising speed.
- Create and optimize operational systems, tools, and AI-enabled workflows to boost efficiency and scalability.
- Improve launch readiness by minimizing friction, enhancing repeatability, and refining execution while maintaining quality.
- Facilitate cross-functional operating rhythms aligning Product, Technology, Delivery, Commercial, and Marketing functions.
- Establish operational reporting, key performance indicators, and decision-making frameworks fostering continuous improvement.
- Manage prioritization and execution of multiple initiatives to translate strategic goals into tangible deliverables.
- Build scalable operating models designed for significant future growth.
- Lead, mentor, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Product Development team.
Scope of the Role
- You will not be responsible for defining strategic business direction, which is governed by senior leadership.
- Learner-facing delivery operations are managed by a dedicated Learner Delivery Director.
- The role does not involve academic content creation, curriculum design, or subject matter expertise.
- Your focus is to ensure that operational systems supporting these functions are world-class, scalable, and consistently improving.
Success Milestones
- Within 30 days: Gain deep insight into current programme operations and identify operational bottlenecks. Build strong relationships across leadership and key teams. Identify high-impact opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency, and scalability. Assess current AI use and potential for greater integration. Develop a vision for excellent operational product delivery.
- Within 90 days: Lead operational initiatives that enhance launch readiness and execution. Implement scalable operating practices increasing programme consistency. Present a prioritized roadmap for product operations, tooling, and AI adoption. Establish yourself as the reliable operational leader consulted on complex challenges.
- Within 180 days: Achieve measurable improvements in operational KPIs. Accelerate, standardize, and predict launch processes. Integrate AI deeply within operational workflows beyond standalone tools. Position the Product Development function as a cornerstone for scalable growth without quality compromises. Free senior leadership to concentrate more on strategic growth and less on day-to-day operational issues.

- Proven experience building products, operational systems, or platforms in fast-scaling organisations.

- Advanced proficiency with AI and daily use of modern AI tools to enhance decision-making, productivity, and innovation.

- Excellent communication, confident decision-making, and ability to influence across functions without hierarchical dependencies.
