Principal Mechanical Engineer - Data Centres

About the Role

A dynamic and fast-expanding engineering consultancy specializing in hyperscale data centres and mission-critical infrastructure is in search of an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead and expand its Mechanical design team. This role provides opportunities to engage with cutting-edge data centre projects across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, delivering innovative and high-performing engineering solutions to a global clientele.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the mechanical design team on multiple concurrent projects.
• Supervise the engineering design and delivery of HVAC, public health, and fire protection systems.
• Guarantee technical precision, regulatory compliance, and high-quality deliverables.
• Promote engineering best practices including standards adherence, design optimization, and value engineering efforts.
• Manage, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering personnel.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, structural, BIM, and architectural teams to ensure cohesive project integration.
• Assist in project planning, resource allocation, and adhering to delivery timelines.
• Provide on-site technical support including inspections and commissioning activities.
• Engage with clients, contribute to proposal drafting, and support business development initiatives.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical engineering.
• Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing teams on data centre projects.
• Expertise in HVAC systems and thermal design, chilled water and precision cooling systems.
• Familiarity with relevant international standards such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, and NFPA.
• Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary design teams.
• Academic credentials: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional certification such as Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent is preferred.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience with sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions.
• Proficiency in advanced engineering software including Revit, IES, HAP, AutoCAD, and CFD tools.
• Client-facing leadership roles within international project environments.
